One of the very famous and renowned English musician and producer Thomas Dolby was born on 14 October 1958 in London, England, whose real name is Thomas Morgan Robertson. He is well known especially for his best performance in "She Blinded Me with Science" and single "Hyperactive!" in the year 1982 and 1984 respectively. As a music director for the TED Conference and as a technology entrepreneur in Silicon Valley he has worked extensively in production and as a session musician. Recently at Johns Hopkins University he is working as a professor of Arts.

He is the son of an internationally known professor of archaeology and classical Greek art whose name was Martin Robertson. He was professor at University of London, Oxford University, and Cambridge University. During Dolby’s childhood his family used to live and work in France, Italy, and Greece. He completed his A level and his school from Abingdon School in the year 1975–1976. In one of his interview of 2012 he shared his musical experience that he started to sing when he was 10- 11 year old in the choir but he didn’t had any formal education. Later on, in the year 1988 he was married to an actress named Kathleen Beller. He has altogether 3 children. Since, he has good marital relation with his wife so, he is unlikely to get divorce. As he has good bond with his wife so, he may not have any girlfriend and is not a gay. 

As he was "always messing around with keyboards and tapes" so, his friends gave him a nick name Dolby and later on this name became his stage name. He selected "Thomas Dolby" as his stage name in order to avoid confusion between his and British singer Tom Robinson’s name. Then his full name was Thomas Morgan Dolby Robertson, which was legally incorrect. Because of his name there was a lengthy legal battle but later court decided that he has no right to use that name. He started his musical career by playing keyboard along with Bruce Woolley and the Camera Club. He has also played keyboard in the first solo album of Robyn Hitchcock's in the love track. He has also played some synthesizer parts in different albums like Thompson Twins. In the year 1981 he played the atmospheric synthesizer introducing to the mega-hit "Waiting for a Girl Like You" of the album "Urgent" on Foreigner's. He has worked as a keyboard player in various super hit songs and albums.

In the year 1985 Dolby attended Grammy Awards along with Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and Howard Jones. All of them are fantastic in fact experts in playing keyboard and synthesizer. As a part of David Bowie's band he gave a live performance in London in the same year, which was known as Live Aid concert. Talking about his height he is about 5 feet 5 inch tall.
