John Turturro is an American director, actor and a writer as well, who is best known for his role sin movies like: Miller's Crossing (1990), Barton Fink (1991), Do the Right Thing (1989), Where Art Thou? (2000) and many others. He started his TV career, after being a part of the theatre in his young days. He was seen in a small role in Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull (1980). With his role in Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (1983), he won the Obie Award for theatre. With his average performance in Do the Right Thing, he was casted in Spike Lee’s Five Corners. Spike and John went on to work for many years, and worked together in nine films, that ranged from comedy to actor and dramas. John also worked jointly with Adam Sandler and appeared in comedy roles in movies like Mr. Deeds (2002) and You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008). Appearing in some drama films like Secret Window and Anger Management, he then started to feature in TV shows as well. He won an Emmy for his role in the TV show Monk, and was nominated for many prestigious awards like the Golden Gloves, Screen Actors Guild and Cannes Film Festival. His first work as a director was seen in the movie Illuminati (1999), which he acted in himself. He also wrote the plot and directed Romance and Cigarettes in 2005 and a musical movie named Passione.
