Maria Celeste Arraras was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rica on September 27, 1960. She is one of the seven children of Jose Enrique Arraras who is a politician, sports leader, lawyer and an educator as well.

Like her multi-talented father, Maria Celeste Arraras is also a journalist, actress, author, and the host and producer of Spanish-language news program Al Rojo Vivo.

Arraras has majored in communications and public relations from the Loyola University of New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana. Arraras has been a great swimmer during youth. She has won three medals at the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships in 1971.

However due to her illness caused by infectious mononucleosis, she could not compete at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Arraras is also a beauty with brains. While she was 18, she had represented Mayaguez at the Miss Puerto Rico pageant where she was the first runner-up.

Maria Celeste Arraras began her career as a reporter at Puerto Rican television station Canal 24. Later in 1986, she joined the New York Telemundo affiliate WNJU as a reporter.

Her hard work and dedication as a reporter made her the co-anchor of a news program Primer Impacto of Univision network at Miami, Florida in 1994. 

In Univision network, she was co-anchor to Myrka Dellanos until 2002. Later she left the network for Telemundo USA network to be an anchor in a new television program, Al Rojo Vivo.

Maria has been a judge for the Miss Universe pageant in 2003 and 2006. She has hosted Today Show on NBC for many times in 2006 and 2009. She has been part of a campaign called “Got Milk?” which was a part of “Think about Your Drink” campaign.

Over the years, Arraras has been successful to interview many different personalities including presidents, singers and other people. She has interviewed famous Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin. She also interviewed Yolanda Saldivar who is convicted of murdering Selena Quintanilla-Perez.

Arraras has been an investigative reporter and writer as well. Her books include Selena’s Secret: The Revealing Story Behind her Tragic Death which was released first in Spanish.

This book describes her investigation of the events surrounding the death of singer Selena Quintanilla. She has written many published books for children as well.

Arraras has been married twice. She has two children from her divorced husband, Manny Arvesu. When she was with Manny, they had adopted a Russian boy in 2000 and named him Adrian. The other two children are Julian and Lara Giuiliana. Arraras is now single who currently lives in Miami with her three children.

The Puerto Rican news anchor who went on local television to national news anchor is also an advocate for animal rights.

Arraras has been dating but not so often. She had an affair with her boyfriend named, Raul Quintana in 2010. They lived together for around ten months and then separated after bad incidents.

The hot anchor reported being beaten by her boyfriend. She has been a much-respected journalist, a very honest and warm woman that is much loved in the Latin community.
