Gary’s parents were Joseph Valentine Knipfing Junior and Janet Knipfing. His father Joseph Valentine Knipfing Junior was the owner of an insurance agency, whereas his mother Janet Knipfing worked at a chiropractor's office.

Gary Valentine has two siblings, his older brother Kevin George Knipfing and his sister Leslie Knipfing. Kevin George Knipfing is a very famous actor and is known by the name of Kevin James.
