Known for his role as Samwise Gamgee in “Lord of the Rings Trilogy,” Sean Astin has made the unique position in the Hollywood industry.

He is a versatile talent who is involved in acting, producing as well as directing. He is also a voice artist who has done roles in many movies. His full name is Sean Patrick Duke who was born in 25h of February 1971 in Santa Monica, California.

As his mother is Patty Duke who was also an actress, he did not find difficult to make the choice for his future. His parents also supported him a lot to pursue his career.

As he was inclined to be an actor, he joined the School of Arts to fulfill his dream. He has been actively involved in this field from 1981 when he was only ten years old.

He made his debut from the TV series “Please Don’t Hit Me Mom” as Brian Reynolds.

Then, he got some chances to appear in the TV shows till 1985. But later he shifted himself to the movies and inclined in it more. He made his first appearance in the movies from “The Goonies” in 1985 where he portrayed the role of Mikey Walsh.

He appeared in many successful films in the 1990s. He got an offer to play in the internationally successful movie “The Lord of the Rings trilogy” in 2001. After his acting in this movie, his career picked up a height real soon.

Till now, he has played various roles in the movies and the TV shows. He has earned many awards from his hard works as well. Some of his popular TV series are “Jeremiah”, “24” and “Alphas”.

Lately, he has been in the cast member of “The Strain” where he is playing the lead role of Jim Kent.

In 1985, he won his first award in the category of Best Starring Performance in Young Artist Award. He also won the Phoenix Film Critics Society Award for Best Cast from “Lord of the Rings”.  

From all three parts of the movie, he was liked by the audience as well as the critics, and he has won many awards as well.

He is 5 feet 7 inch tall and has the weight of 67 kg. He has a half-brother, Mackenzie Astin, who is also an actor.

There were many rumors about him being a gay before his marriage. He got married in 1992 with Christine Astin. The couple is happily married and has three daughters.

Man, I absolutely have to lose weight. OR, Wow, look at how powerful I am, running 26.2 miles carrying 45 extra pounds the whole way...not quite carrying Frodo up Mt. Doom, heck it's maybe more impressive. I only had to hoist that diminutive hobbit for a few feet of volcano, steep, but manageable. But seriously, I am FAT. Just finished the NYC Marathon 2016 in 6:02:33. It's official, I'm a back o' the packer now. By God, I won't be forever, but as for today... eeeeek. Let me just say this, of all of the big city marathons I've run (Los Angeles 4x's, San Francisco, Chicago, Marine Corps, etc...) I have never seen such intense, sustained, out of their heads crazy spectators...the sound was deafening every step of the 5 boroughs (Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx & Manhattan)...I think they compete with each other...it was a 5 way tie. I ran Portland only a month ago, so I was happy that my legs held up. I think it's fair to say that I'm a veteran marathoner now, well...I had to use every mental and physical trick in the book to get around the course today. I know my Mom was looking down on me today...kicking my ass every step...thanks ma! That's all. Special thanks to everyone with the NYCM and ASICS for their hospitality.
