Bryant Charles Gumbel, born on September 29, 1948, is a multitalented American television journalist as well as a sportscaster. Bryant is best known for his co-host in the TV show of NBC, The Today Show for 15 years.

He is also known as the younger brother of the famous sports caster Greg Gumbel. He has been an excellent sports caster for NBC and has a well-paid salary with a net worth of $18 million.

Bryant was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana by Rhea Alice who is a city clerk and Richard Dunbar Gumbel who is a judge. He was raised by his parents along with three siblings namely, Greg Gumbel, Rhonda Gumbel-Thomas, and Renee Gumbel-Farrah.

He attended De La Salle Institute in Chicago, Illinois and later graduated from Bates College in 1970. In the following year, he got an editing job in the Black Sports Magazine but then left to begin his television career.

He was made a sports caster for KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. After working for some years in the KNBC-TV, he was hired by NBC Sports to work as a co-host of its National Football League pre-game show called GrandStand with Jack Buck in 1975.

He hosted several sporting events for NBC in the following years including College basketball, National Football League, and Major League Baseball.

Bryant returned to sports casting for NBC and hosted the show of the Summer Olympics in 1988 followed by the PGA tour in 1990. He has also hosted a memorable show called Epic in Miami in 1982 between the game of San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins.

At the end of the game, Bryant told the audience that if you don’t like this football game, then you don’t like football. Bryant started his affiliation with Today as the program’s chief sports reporter and featured in the series called Sportsman of the Week.

After working around 15 years on the Today show, Bryant Gumbel joined CBS where he hosted a new prime time news magazine named Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel.

He also won a Peabody Award for an episode of the show called The Reckoning in 1998. The show got canceled after one season, and he then hosted a show called The Early Show in 1999.

After serving for some years, he left The Early Show and returned to his morning television roots and worked as special guest moderator of the ABC’s The View for some days.

Bryant was the first host on CBS to announce the attack on the World Trade Center. His other contributions to the TV shows were Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, The NFL Network, and many others.

He also appeared in many movies as guest appearance including the movie The Weather Man with Nicolas Cage.

Bryant is a tall and handsome man who is mostly seen in suits. He looks fantastic in his tidy suits, and his gorgeous smile has attracted many women.

He is currently 68 years of age and has a height of 5 feet 9 inches and has matching weight according to his tall body.

He has been married two times with June Baranco from 1972 to 2001 and Hilary Quinlan in 2002. He gave divorce to his first wife June in 2001 to marry Hilary.

He had two children with his first wife. He also had lung cancer and had to remove a tumor near his lungs in 2009. He is now living happily with his second wife.
