She was born to a Bangladeshi father who migrated to Britain in the 1960s. Her father was the president and founder of Concern For Mental Health in West Yorkshire and also was a psychiatrist with a specialism in alcoholism.

Her father married Pamela from Nottingham who was an English nurse by profession.

Nina with her sister Regina was normally raised Muslim. Since her young days, she was very talented and hardworking. Nina gained her degree from the University of Durham.
