Alex Wagner is an American television host. She was born on December 4, 1977, in Washington DC. She is also a liberal political commentator. She worked for MSNBC as an anchor in a program called Now With Alex Wagner until July 2015.

Born and raised in Washington DC, she is the daughter of Tin Swe Thant and Carl Wanger.  Her mother is a U.S immigrant from Myanmar, and her father is of German and Irish descent, which makes ethnicity mixed.

She was raised Roman Catholic and attended Brown University. She completed her graduation with a degree in Arts History and Literature. Her father belongs to a political background, and hence her interests are also in the same field.

Her career did not start in the media industry. She worked as a cultural correspondent for the Center for American Progress. Her interest was in music and culture in the early days. She was covering music and culture from around the world. She worked as the Editor in Chief for the "The Fader" magazine. She also worked as the executive director for a nonprofit organization which advocated against human rights violations.

She appeared as an anchor and political commentator on MSNBC in 2011.
